The town of Bansko is the most popular Bulgarian ski resort, situated at the North-Eastern foot of the Pirin mountain, only 160 km South from the capital Sofia, 60 km away from the town of Blagoevgrad. Bansko has a specific Renaissance atmosphere, rich cultural and historic heritage, preserved local folklore, original cuisine, lots of cozy private hotels and taverns in traditional Bulgarian style.
Bansko is the newest and the most fast developing ski resort in Bulgaria, visited by 130 000 tourists annually. Bansko is a favourite ski and snowboard destination, thanks to the excellent ski facilities combined with the unique architecture and history. Due to the location of the resort, Bansko has the longest ski season (from December to May).
During the last years the resort is under a massive investment process with many new hotels and resort facilities being under construction. A brand new resort area with super luxury hotels and holiday apartments is being developed just opposite the Gondola lift.
